Jacksonville, FL — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that approximately 80 state parks and trails will reopen on Monday, May 4th, as part of Phase One of reopening most of the state.
“Recreational activity provides important physical and mental health benefits, particularly during these uncertain times. This Phase One plan will allow for the thoughtful, measured re-opening of some of our state’s incredible natural resources for public recreation," says DeSantis.
While select parks will be reopening, there will only be limited facilities available.
Visitors will also be asked to practice proper social distancing, to limit their group to 10 people or less, and will not be allowed to bring chairs, canopies, or coolers. A lack of compliance could lead to the parks being closed or law enforcement action, per the governor's office.
The reopened parks will resume normal operation hours of 8 AM to sunset.
