JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Alert Weather Team regards an upcoming approach to the upcoming cold for the next several days.

There will be a three-pronged approach to the weather for the next few days:
- It’s going to rain this evening & overnight into the first half of Sunday. Some spots in NE Florida will get between 1-2” of rain. It won’t rain all day Sunday as showers will wind down late morning & early afternoon, but it looks to stay cloudy into the evening.
- Sunday night & Monday morning clear & then it gets COLD. MLK Day will be windy and cold. A FREEZE WATCH is already in effect for neighborhoods near & north of I-10 & along & west of I-95. The beaches of Duval County are at risk of freezing Monday morning too. During the day Monday, there will be sunshine but it will be cold and windy.
- Rain moves in on Tuesday and will turn into a wintry mix along & north of I-10 Tuesday night & early Wednesday. Amounts & accumulation are still TBD but GIVEN THE CURRENT FORECAST: the best chance for freezing rain, sleet & snow is in SE GA and far inland in NE FL. Looks like just a cold rain for most of NE Florida.
Notes from the First Alert weather Team:
- Temps Wednesday afternoon will be well above freezing in the upper 30s to mid-40s
- If there is wintry precip accumulation, melting should happen, but the magnitude will depend on how much sun we actually see
- Another fast-moving rain maker moves across the area Thursday morning & midday – looks like just rain at this time
- Then we turn more sunny Friday & Saturday but it stays chilly with temps near freezing in the morning
