Jacksonville FL — Now that early voting is over, the race is on to get ready for the primary Tuesday.
In Duval County Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan says as soon as early voting ended Sunday, they started working on getting precincts ready for Tuesday by printing out the voter register and setting up voting booths among other things.
“There’s a lot of transitional work that has to be done.” Hogan says.
Hogan says to help save you some time Tuesday then he suggests showing up to vote during non-peak voting hours like during the late morning or early afternoon to avoid any potential long lines. If you’ve already requested a mail-in-ballot but haven’t submitted it yet, then you can still early vote according to Hogan. He says their system will count which ever ballot is received by you first. If you change your mind and vote on Tuesday, he suggests just ripping up your main-in-ballot.
Meanwhile in St. Johns County, Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes says Monday is a busy day for them as voting equipment is picked up and delivered to polling places and poll workers have to set up the voting booths. To save you some time at your precinct, she suggests bringing a sample ballot already filled out and have your ID ready. She says if you need to make an address change then you’ll need to call the supervisor’s office before heading to your voting precinct.
