Fight over BBQ meat leads to life sentence

A man could spend the rest of his life in prison for beating a man to death food.

36-year-old Alvin Welch has been sentenced to life, with a 30 year minimum mandatory. He was previously convicted of manslaughter.

Prosecutors say Welch and several others were at a football party at 31-year-old Joshua Heinze’s home. Welch and Heinze got in an argument over how Welch was cutting the BBQ meat. Things escalated, and Welch hit Heinze in the head with a baseball bat- an injury from which Heinze later died.
