Jacksonville, FL — A Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. had minor injuries in a Sunday night crash on I-95 near Lem Turner Road. The Patrol Sgt. was parked in the northbound inside emergency lane, alerting traffic to a crash in front of him.
The FHP unit had its emergency lights with a directional arrow illuminated, according to an initial crash report.
The driver of a Jeep, which was traveling north on I-95, failed to maintain her travel lane and crossed into the emergency lane, rear-ending the FHP vehicle. The marked patrol vehicle was pushed into a concrete media barrier.
Shasharon Baker of Jacksonville was charged with DUI, careless driving, and no proof of insurance, according to the crash report.
An arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office states that Baker was exhibiting indicators of impairment during an interview with officers on scene. A subsequent field sobriety test was performed, but results were redacted from the JSO arrest report.
