Jacksonville, FL — Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly crash in Fleming Island involving a semi-truck.
It happened on U.S. 17 after Harbor Island Drive. Southbound lanes were closed for several hours, but reopened around 11:45AM.
FHP is working a crash at Westover Rd on Hwy. 17. All southbound lanes of Hwy. 17 will be blocked due to the investigation. We recommend you take an alternate route of Kingsley Ave. to Blanding Blvd.

FHP says the driver of the vehicle who was hit, 50-year-old Maria Ocasio of Jacksonville, died. Troopers say the semi-truck continued south on U.S. 17, but was located and stopped just south of the crash scene.
The driver of that semi truck, 68-year-old Johnny Gratta of Baldwin, has now been arrested for leaving the scene of a crash resulting in a death, according to FHP.
