Traffic was held up for hours on the Betlway Tuesday morning because a man drove the wrong direction on the Dames Point Bridge and collided head on with a pickup truck.
Florida Highway Patrol has identified the man who caused the accident as 43-year-old David Wilson. Troopers say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and they are still investigating whether or not alcohol was involved.
Wilson was taken to UF Health in critical condition. The driver of the pickup, Charles Chitty, was also taken in but was released in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
