FHP: Four cars involved in deadly Northside crash

Jacksonville, Fl. — A local woman is dead and charges are pending after a four-car crash on the Northside Monday night.

Florida Highway Patrol says 70-year-old John Hirte of Cincinnati, Ohio and his passenger Pamela Hirt were driving in the southbound lanes of Main Street and ran a red light at the intersection of Busch Drive.

Hirte then collided with a Pontiac G6 driven by 44-year-old Erica Johnson of Jacksonville. The initial impact of the crash caused Johnson’s car to hit two other cars that were stopped at a red light.

Four people went to the hospital, the Hirte’s had serious injuries.

Sergeant Dylan Bryan with FHP tells WOKV they believe a medical episode was happening just before the crash and they are still investigating.
