Jacksonville, FL — As a woman recovers from serious injuries after being run over while sunbathing in Fernandina Beach, a man has been charged with fleeing the scene of a crash.
Gregory Green was booked in to the Nassau County Jail early Wednesday on a felony count. Witnesses led police to his home after Tuesday’s crash near Seaside Park.
A 53-year-old woman from Ohio was run over by a Jeep at 1:39 p.m. and witnesses heard her screams for help, according to an arrest report.
Investigators say after speaking with at least three witnesses, they were able to identify the vehicle by the tag. When officers arrived to the home where the vehicle was registered, which was less than a mile away, they learned that the owner had parked his vehicle in the garage next door.
Police say the man refused to talk to police for more than an hour, but eventually agreed to come outside. According to the arrest report, Green said he was told by a woman that he had run over a boy, which he denied, and then he left the scene.
Green was booked in to the Nassau County Jail on $50,000 bond.
UPDATE: The woman suffered 3 broken ribs and a blood clot in her chest, per police. Officers arrested Gregory Green for leaving the scene of a crash causing injuries. @ActionNewsJax pic.twitter.com/kwhTxCSnWl
