FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — The search is on for a new Fernandina Beach city attorney.
In a meeting Tuesday night, the City Commission voted to terminate Tammi Bach.

Commissioner Tim Poynter said he wanted to bring forth the motion “after careful consideration of the city’s future needs and due to … lack of confidence and trust in the current city attorney.”
The decision was not unanimous.

Vice Mayor Darron Ayscue voted no, calling it an “absolute mistake” made without proper prior discussion.
Bach responded to the vote in a statement to Action News Jax:
“I am stunned and heartbroken. There was no warning, nothing behind the scenes to indicate this. Yet, I am overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude and so very honored to have had the opportunity to serve the City of Fernandina Beach for more than 17 years.”

Bach first began her role as City Attorney in 2007.
She has been placed on 30-day administrative leave before her termination, while the city manager searches for a replacement.
