The owner, Beth Baxter, said about 25 graded comics were taken from their store, and based on surveillance video, she said the suspect was in and out in just one minute.
“He came in and did a quick loop around the shop, went behind the counter grabbed a few things, and grabbed a lot of slabs on the way out,” Baxter said.
Baxter said some of the stolen books were one-of-a-kind pieces.

“Definitely felt violated,” Baxter said. “They were jam pieces that were drawn on by several different artists so there are no replication of these books. They also have serial numbers attached to them as well.”

On Dec. 31, someone broke into the Mythical Mountain store on San Jose Boulevard.
About $4,850 worth of items were taken.
That suspect was wearing a light-colored hoodie, which is also the description police provided for the suspect in the incident at Cowabunga Comics.

Baxter believes it’s the same person or group of people targeting other area stores.
“While some of the video footage isn’t the clearest, they seem to have the same kind of movement style so it does seem like the same people,” Baxter said.
