FDOT: Kingsley Avenue to close near Doctors Lake for construction

Jacksonville, FL. — If you live or work in the Orange Park area, be prepared for some changes on the road because the Florida Department of Transportation has kicked off a new construction project.

FDOT says Kingsley Avenue will close in the immediate area of the railroad crossing just west of Doctors Lake Drive. The closure is needed so crews can replace the crossing surface.

Construction started around 3 am on Thursday, June 7th and is expected to be completed by June 21st. FODT says lanes will reopen early if the work is completed ahead of schedule but it is also possible it could be closed long if there were weather or other unforeseen delays.

During the construction, traffic will be detoured via U.S. 17 (Park Avenue), Wells Road and Blanding Boulevard.
