Jacksonville FL — As we get into the peak of the Summer driving season, the Florida Department of Transportation says they are making progress on the East Beltway Express Lanes that are going in from State Road 9B to Butler Blvd. FDOT says you are seeing some noise walls go in along Butler Blvd and they are nearly complete, and more developments are coming soon.
“We still got some major traffic shifts coming along, obviously installation of the delineators which are those orange plastic pipes you see in the roadway.” Says FDOT spokesperson Hampton Ray.
The project is expected to wrap up by the end of this year according to Ray, and once completed there will be two new Express Lanes in both directions from State Road 9B to Butler Blvd.
As far as how the West Beltway Express Lanes are going so far, Ray says its too early to tell how much of a traffic impact the new lanes have made since patters are different in the Summer. He says once we move into the Fall FDOT will get a better understanding of what traffic conditions will be like with the new lanes.
