FBI information led to quick response to Town Center jewelry store robbery

Jacksonville, FL — Three men have been booked in to the Duval County Jail for armed robbery, after allegedly trying to rob a Jared jewelry store in the Town Center area. Now, we're learning more about how the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was able to get those suspects in custody so quickly.

FBI Jacksonville says they received information from FBI Detroit yesterday that suspects may be targeting jewelry stores in Jacksonville. JSO confirms they received information from the FBI about possible criminal activity, which led to SWAT surveillance teams deploying.

SWAT was outside of the Jared jewelry store in the Town Center area around 7PM, when they saw a suspect vehicle park, and then the suspects get out and enter the business, according to the incident report. That JSO report says the suspects pulled open the locked door of the business and used hammers to break the glass on the display cases, to access the jewelry inside. When SWAT approached the door of the business, JSO says the suspects ran off, but were caught after a short foot pursuit.

Those three men have now been identified as 29-year-old John Davis, 28-year-old Delano Ross, and 30-year-old Tristian Murphy. Arrest reports show Davis and Murphy are from Detroit, while Ross does not have a listed address. All three have been arrested for armed robbery.

The JSO incident report says they discovered that a second vehicle was involved in this incident, and police tweeted that they were seeking a fourth suspect, who was driving a certain vehicle. The Camden County Sheriff's Office says a Kingsland Police Officer spotted that vehicle, and Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop. The driver, 28-year-old Devon Newby, was found to have a suspended Michigan license, so he was brought in to custody on that charge and a hold was placed for JSO.

While the Camden County Sheriff’s Office says Newby is the suspected driver JSO was searching for, JSO says there has not been any charges relating to the robbery brought forward at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.

WOKV is working to learn whether the suspects in this case are believed to be connected to any other incidents, and how the FBI developed information that ultimately helped lead to this quick resolution. FBI Detroit is declining to give any further information at this time, citing the ongoing investigation.
