Jacksonville FL — It was an emotion day for families, friends and colleagues as the 62 lost in the line of duty in Jacksonville were honored Wednesday morning outside Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena. Among the 62 was Officer Lance Whitaker who died in a crash on the East Beltway while responding to another crash last May. His family and friends were there for the unveiling of his name on the Fallen Officers Memorial Wall outside the arena.

Officer Whitaker’s son, Cade, helped Sheriff Mike Williams unveil the name and Officer Whitaker’s ex-wife said it was an emotional day for her and her son.
“I know that Lance is watching over and I know that Cade thinks of his dad about every single day.” Says Lisa Whitaker Mckinney.
She says she knows her son is proud of his dad.
