Express lane delineators complete on West Beltway project

Jacksonville, FL — The years-long construction project on the I-295 West Beltway between I-95 and the Buckman Bridge is nearing completion and should be open to traffic this spring.

Crews have completed installation of express lane delineators which separate the tolled Express Lanes. Crews worked nightly for nearly a month to install the delineators which separate every five feet.  They are applied directly to the asphalt with epoxy.

You may notice they are shorter in some area, specifically near San Jose Blvd. An FDOT spokesperson says the delineators are shorter at some of the bridges due to line of sight requirement. FDOT is conducting tests of the tolling devices.  Barring weather and unforeseen circumstances the lanes are expected to open to traffic by the end of spring, though FDOT is not able to say precisely when.

The toll rate for express lanes are designed to vary depending on the amount of traffic within the express lanes.
