The SIPPRA program is designed to fund projects that demonstrate success in achieving social outcomes with federal payments depending on whether predefined goals are met.
“We are grateful that our efforts are being recognized at the national level and that our focus on federal grants continues to bring more of our tax dollars home,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “This investment in Jacksonville’s families is a testament to our community’s commitment to early childhood success. By focusing on literacy and family health, we are creating a brighter future for our children and building a city that works for all of us.”
This grant, which is the first of its kind to be received by the COJ, will drive innovative solutions to support early childhood literacy and family health across the community. Funding will expand early literacy initiatives by integrating literacy coaching into pediatric healthcare visits.
The grant will also enhance access to nursing home visiting services for new parents in Jacksonville. These in-home visits aim to provide crucial support during the post-partum period, addressing topics from mental health to newborn care.
“This grant allows us to expand critical programs that not only support children’s educational growth but also address maternal health and family stability,” says Dr. Saralyn Grass, CEO of Kids Hope Alliance (the COJ’s division dedicated to funding children and family-oriented initiatives). “It’s an exciting step forward in our mission to ensure every child in Jacksonville has the opportunity to thrive.”
