Duval Courthouse calendars restored after technology problems

Jacksonville — The family and civil calendars at the Duval County Courthouse are restored after a technology SNAFU deleted about 12 out 100 of them last week.

The Court Technology Officer, Mike Smith, told WOKV the criminal scheduling calendars were never effected, and they were able to recover the scheduling for the cases that were on those calendars.

Over the weekend, the court sent out an email to attorneys asking for help.  "Unfortunately, we have had a rather catastrophic issue with a few of our DUVAL COUNTY calendars. For some unknown reason COURT IT has deleted some of the calendars. They are trying to reconstruct the calendars, but to further ensure we do not have issues regarding your cases, we are requesting that you advise us if you have a case set.”

Smith said the calendars are 99.9 percent restored, other than the “dozen or so” cases that were scheduled, but not yet entered into the electronic system.  “We’re looking for those just to make sure we have everything restored,” Smith said.  “Everything else is on the calendars.”

The deletion occurred as the court was migrating data between systems.
