UPDATE: Action News Jax is learning new information about the passenger of a car killed Thursday morning in a crash near Nocatee.
Friends of the family identified him as 17-year-old Georgie Moreland. We’re told that the driver of the car was his best friend.
Police have not released the cause of the crash but neighbors in the area say they’ve always been concerned about drivers speeding in the area.

One person is dead following an early morning single-vehicle crash, according to the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office.
At 3:25 a.m. two young adults were involved in a crash near the intersection of Cross Town Drive and Preservation Trail near Nocatee.
Police say the vehicle went off the road and crashed into the woods.

The passenger died as a result of their injuries. The driver was not hurt, officials said.
JSO could not provide the gender or age of the young adults involved at this time.
The cause of the crash in under investigation.
There is no impact to traffic but drivers are asked to be cautious because of police activity in the area.
