Man admits to shooting another man during an attempted robbery, Jacksonville police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating after they say a man admitted to shooting another man overnight in self-defense.

Officers were called out to the 900 block of Water Street at 12:55 a.m. Friday about a shooting.

When officers arrived, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they found a man who had been shot multiple times.

He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.

Police said a man at the crime scene turned himself in for the shooting and told officers he was defending himself during an attempted robbery.

It is unknown if the person that was shot was armed. Detectives are investigating.
