DCPS releases 2019-2020 evaluation score for Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Students aren’t the only ones that get report cards, as even the big boss, Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene, gets rated on how well she does.

Dr. Greene had a challenging year (like most of us), when it came to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s safe to say that the way students attended school was flipped upside down.

The Duval County School Board evaluated Dr. Greene on how she did during the pandemic.

Some of the accomplishments listed in the evaluation include:

  • Fearless leadership during COVID-19 pandemic. Examples include the efficient and successful implementation of unprecedented changes necessitated by the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, including the conversion to distance learning and provision of innovative supplemental materials and resources, as well as support services, to ensure continuous student learning and achievement, as well as related services to families and district staff.
  • Continued forward planning to respond to COVID-19, including development of plans for 1:1 ratio for student laptops.
  • Continued provision of standards-based student learning with a continued focus on student-centered achievement.
  • Notwithstanding the lack of statewide testing in 2019-2020, the continued increase in the graduation rates.
  • Referendum and education campaign for sales surtax and master facilities planning.
  • Implementation of school improvements and school hardening.

While Dr. Greene did accomplish many things in the last year, her peers offered her some feedback and recommendations to go forward into the future including:

  • Provide more supports and resources to all students.
  • Continued improvement in student literacy.
  • Provide more training for mental health and cultural awareness.
  • Improve perception and culture of safety in school buildings.
  • Build succession management.
  • Encourage and support community and government partnerships in alignment with district priorities.
  • Continue improvement in timely and transparent communications.

Overall Dr. Greene got an overall highly effective score of 38.60 out of 48.00. You can find the full evaluation below:
