This week some of the PGA greats like Phil Mickelson will tee off during the PGA TOUR Champions Constellation Furyk & Friends tournament at Timuquana Country Club.
Hosted by golf legend Jim Furyk, the event will help raise money for several local charities.
For example, Beaches Habitat for Humanity said the home it is building wouldn’t be possible without the help of the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation and Constellation and Friends.
They provided the funding for materials to build a home for Alfie Tuff and her two daughters.

Tuff is a paraprofessional teacher at Neptune Beach Elementary school.
She works directly with children who have special needs just like those of her daughter, 11-year-old Lavon.
She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was only two years old.
“She’s quadriplegic, nonverbal but definitely can get her point across, so as far as what she wants and how she says things and how she’s expresses herself, is definitely something we learned over the years,” Tuff said.
Trying to find an affordable place for this single mother of two has been challenging.
That’s where Beaches Habitat for Humanity stepped in.
The organization is building a home for Tuff and her children just off Mayport Road through its home-ownership program.
Normally it takes six months to build one of these homes, but the pandemic has slowed things down.

“We’ve had to stop construction a number of times, we’ve had really cut back on volunteers,” said Sarah Jared, chief operating officer at Beaches Habitat for Humanity.
They’ve had supply chain issues too.
“The windows that we have in here, they were supposed to be delivered in May and we just got them the last week of August,” Jared said.
Once the home is complete it’ll be fully ADA compliant with special tracks that will make it easier for Lavon to get around.
“I’m so excited, I’m so excited, I’m super happy. Having a space that will be fully adaptable for Lavon means so much,” said Tuff.
Beaches Habitat for Humanity said it’s hoping to finish the home by the end of the year or early January.
