JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 26-year-old man and another person are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 northbound just south of the Fuller Warren Bridge Friday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say that the 26-year-old driver was driving the wrong way on I-95 north when he hit another driver in an SUV head-on.
The SUV caught on fire and was fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle landed inside the emergency lane.
The 26-year-old driver’s car came to rest in one of the inside lanes.
Both drivers were pronounced dead on scene, according to FHP.
The driver of the SUV has not been identified.
The crash shut down the highway for multiple hours and it is unclear how long it will be closed.
