A change is on the way for how JEA’s Board of Directors is determined.
Duval County voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum that will give the Jacksonville City Council the authority to appoint or remove four of the 7 members of JEA’s Board of Directors.

Prior to this ballot measure, the mayor held the authority to appoint all 7 members of the board with City Council then approving the selections.
This vote comes just a day after JEA’s Board of Directors voted to name Jay Stowe as the utility’s next managing director and CEO. Contract negotiations with Stowe are currently underway.
