JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Duval County School Board is continuing the work to ensure security at all of its school campuses remains a priority.
There was a special school board meeting on Tuesday. It is called a shade meeting, and it was closed to the public but allowed under Florida law.

“I am really pleased with the districts and the superintendent’s response,” said Melody Bolduc, a Duval County School Board member. “I can’t discuss any of the contents because it’s a shade meeting it would put security in jeopardy.”
This meeting happened just weeks after Action News Jax reported recent incidents at one local school which have raised security concerns.
Just last month, gang violence at Mandarin High School ended with two students arrested and another with a concussion.

One of the suspects is an Ed White High School student who managed to get onto the Mandarin campus using another student’s ID card.
And Action News Jax learned about a second case of violence which involved an Atlantic Coast student who was able to get on a bus to Mandarin High.
“It happened at mandarin; it can happen at any of our high schools and any of our schools really,” said Bolduc. “As a parent, I am pleased with how hard the district is working, to make sure that all of our children are safe.”
