The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was fatally shot by a deputy off Blanding Boulevard, as Dylan Joseph Mark Cross.
CCSO says Cross was pulled over as part of a traffic stop late Sunday, and something led the deputy involved in that to ask for back-up. K9 Deputy Andy McCrea responded, and CCSO says when he got on scene, Cross brandished a gun, leading McCrea to open fire.

CCSO says McCrea has been on the force 15 years, including an extensive history as a K9 Deputy. He was not physically harmed in the shooting.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is aiding in the investigation. CCSO says they will not be releasing any further details until FDLE authorizes it. The FDLE tells WOKV their role is to determine the facts of the case and give that information to the State Attorney’s Office in the Judicial Circuit.
