JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A driver died in a crash early Tuesday in Jacksonville’s Commonwealth community after hitting a tree. Jacksonville police said the driver was in a newer model Nissan Pathfinder traveling westbound on Highway Avenue.
“The driver failed to negotiate the curve, slid off the roadway to the right and into a Pine tree,” A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office news release states. “The vehicle caught on fire. Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to put out the fire and pronounced the driver deceased.
“The driver appeared to be the only occupant of the vehicle,” the news release states.
