With the 2020-2021 school year underway for Duval County Public Schools, the district says it’s working to create a new tool to keep families in the loop about coronavirus cases.
According to the district, a new dashboard is under construction that will display an aggregate number of confirmed positive cases on school campuses among students and staff. Once it’s up-and-running, the dashboard will be updated overnight with the latest known cases. In the meantime, you can find out information about known positive cases by clicking HERE.
If there is a confirmed case at your child’s school, the district says it will work with the Department of Health to communicate with families whose students will need to quarantine. Additionally, the school says it will send out a robo call to parents.
As for what would cause a class closure, DCPS released the following guidelines:
- One person confirmed positive and two with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
- Two people or more confirmed positive and one or more with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
- Three people or more with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
As for what would close a school, DCPS says 20% of a school would have to report exposure to coronavirus.
