You may see a few more patrols at Davis Park in St. Johns County.
We’ve learned the soccer fields on the south end of the park were vandalized, and there’s not much information available about who’s responsible.
An offense report from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says they were shown the damage by a Parks and Rec representative. A vehicle was able to get on to the field before driving in circles, which tore up grass and left ruts. The Parks and Rec representative said he also found empty beer cans and beer bottles on the property, although he had already picked those up.
The offense report says there were no cameras in the park on the night of the incident, which was Thursday night or early Friday morning.
The park was put on “extra patrol” according to the incident report, and Parks and Rec is adding another pole around the field in an effort to keep cars from gaining access.
The investigation is classified as felony criminal mischief with property damage costing more than $1,000.
