Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is warning that a series of robberies have taken place targeting Hispanic victims.
JSO says the robberies occur mainly on Friday and Saturday nights, in or around apartment complexes. Various weapons have been used, including guns, hammers, and baseball bats- and some of the victims have been injured.
Six incidents have been reported in the last seven days: 5675 Barnhill Dr, 10960 Beach Blvd, 3534 Smithfield St, 7500 Powers Ave, 8030 S Old Kings Rd, and 9801 Old Baymeadows Rd. We've previously told you about the incident on Beach Blvd, where the victim was shot, but is in stable condition.
JSO says the suspects in these cases have all been black males, although the descriptions beyond that widely vary, so they’re not yet able to determine if the incidents are related.
The suspects in these cases are considered armed and dangerous.
“We wish to alert everyone in the community, but especially the Hispanic community, that they should remain alert, exercise caution, and report anyone or anything suspicious to police,” says a JSO Facebook post about the crime alert.
If you have any information about these robberies, you’re asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. You can also submit an anonymous tip and be eligible for a possible reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
