Jacksonville, FL — There is a packed slate of events surrounding the 74th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
The lineup was unveiled Tuesday by the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Chairman, Jamie Shelton.
“For the first time in over 25 years, the Gator Bowl will be a prime time ESPN 7:30 kickoff,” he says.
That New Year’s Eve game will feature an SEC team against an ACC/Big Ten team or Notre Dame. It is preceded by a tailgate happy hour at Daily’s Place at 4:30PM.
There will be a free post-game concert performed by country artist Cole Swindell immediately following the trophy presentation. Swindell says he always imagined playing in a venue like TIAA Bank Field, although, when he was younger, he thought it would be in sports.
“I’ve been a sports fan my whole life. I was born in Savannah, Georgia, right down the road. And I’m so excited,” he says.
The evening will be capped with a fireworks show at midnight, to ring in 2019.
