Jacksonville, FL — Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels wants to catch the attention of criminals and raise awareness for citizens of Clay County. Daniels stars in a series of public awareness videos that recently appeared on Facebook.
The most recent video appears to show a special response team arrest of an individual. The video was not an actual arrest, but a production.
“It’s one of six videos or public service announcements to bring about awareness of certain things that I want to bring to the attention of the folks within Clay County and Northeast Florida”, said Daniels.
The other videos are more specific about public safety. Daniels says he wants to utilize technology to get a positive message out and reduce crime.
“If I as the head of an agency can mitigate one person or many people being victimized by crime as result of looking at something or hearing the message from any one of those videos then I think that’s a win”, Daniels said.
The videos were produced at a cost of $2,000 and paid through crime prevention fund dollars that are designated for promotional initiatives.
“We didn’t use any taxpayer dollars”, said Daniels. He said he didn’t choose the subjects, the subjects chose him.
