Clay Emergency Management warns of Black Creek flooding

Jacksonville, FL — Recent heavy rainfall has Clay County Emergency Management monitoring the north and south prongs of Black Creek.

Both prongs are in action flood stage, and it’s expected they will reach minor flood stage later in the week, depending on how much rain the area receives over the next few days.

Director of Emergency Management John Ward says they will be watching how much rainfall the western part of the county gets over the next few days. Ward says if the county gets heavy rainfall in that area there could potentially be impacts.

“From Lake Asbury west, because that’s kinda the, the dividing line of the north prong and the south prong basins.” Ward says.

He says the biggest concern officials have are those living along the creek who are still recovering after Hurricane Irma and might have storage units on their property.

He says if you live in that area you really need to monitor the creek just in case if you need to move your stuff.

Ward says if there is any sort of significant impact people need to know about, they will send out alerts through their Alert Clay system. Which you can find more information on that at Alert.ClayCountygov.com Ward says.
