MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A man and woman were killed after being hit by a truck in a chain-reaction crash in Middleburg on Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened on State Road 21 near Periwinkle Avenue.

Just before noon, a red truck driven by a 25-year-old woman from Orange Park was traveling south on State Road 21 just south of County Road 215, FHP said.
A silver SUV, driven by a 43-year-old woman from Jacksonville, was sitting stationary waiting to make a left turn on South Periwinkle Avenue from State Road 21, FHP said. The red truck and the SUV crashed, sending the SUV into into the northbound lane where it crashed into a white Dodge Ram pickup truck with an attached trailer.

The Dodge Ram truck, driven by a 47-year-old man from Keystone Heights, then traveled onto the right shoulder of the road, where it crashed into a parked truck and two people.
FHP said the people hit by the truck, a 48-year-old woman from Lawtey and a 60-year-old man from Rossville, Ind., were pronounced dead at the scene.
All southbound and northbound lanes that were blocked due to the crash have been reopened.
