Brush fire in Clay County now under control, caused by ‘unattended debris fire’

Clay County Fire Rescue houses are in need of upgrades.

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. — A brush fire in Clay County is now under control, officials said.

The fire, which happened in the 5600 block of Sleepy Point in Keystone Heights, was caused due to “an unattended debris fire,” county officials said.

Clay County Fire and Rescue, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Forestry Service will be monitoring the area to make sure it doesn’t rekindle.

Fire officials told Action News Jax they want to remind residents that it’s dry out, and to avoid open burning and to never leave a burn unattended.
