GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A teenager from California was arrested in Clay County for trafficking a record-breaking amount of illegal narcotics into the area.

Speaking from the county’s Emergency Management office, Sheriff Michelle Cook announced that the CCSO Narcotics Unit had conducted a controlled purchase of 26 pounds of methamphetamines valued at around $200K from 19-year-old Ricky Overton back and January and the young suspect was arrested.

Cook said the drugs seized are one of the most significant seizures of methamphetamine in recent history.

In a statement, Cook said the sheriff’s office will “continue to work with our local and federal partners to attack this problem which plagues our community and our families,” adding that the arrest “spotlights CCSO’s commitment to narcotics and addiction and dedication to reducing crime.”

Overton was arrested for trafficking in methamphetamine and is being held in the Clay County jail on a $25M bond.
