Clay County School District releases safety plan for reopening schools

Jacksonville FL — The Clay County School District released safety guidelines it plans to follow to keep students and their families safe in August when schools reopen.

In the new school year, parents can choose to have their children attend virtual school or brick-and-mortar campuses.

The plans include assigning seats on buses, limiting access to visitors on campus, and varying arrival and dismissal times for different grade levels to cut down on the amount of students in the halls at once.

CCSD also plans to implement social distancing when “possible and feasible” throughout the school day by serving meals in smaller groups, spacing desks further apart, and staggering lunches, recesses, and other transition times.

CCSD’s plan is not yet finalized, and the school board is planning a workshop for mid-July.
