Clay County Officials announce mandatory evacuations, shelters

Jacksonville, Fl. — As Hurricane Irma approaches Florida, city officials are not taking any chances, especially in Clay County.

"It's time for our citizens to pay close attention and take action."

The Clay County Emergency Operations Center has announced mandatory evacuations for zones A, B, C, low-lying areas, modular homes, and vulnerable homes effective Saturday, September 9 at 6:00 am.

Emergency officials have also announced the opening of their special needs shelter which will be at Lake Asbury Junior High. It’s set to open on Saturday at 8 am.

Clay County will also open their general population shelters Saturday at 9 am:

• Orange Park High School (pet-friendly)

• Wilkinson Elementary

• Clay High School

• Keystone Heights High School (pet-friendly)
