A Clay county man wanted on multiple robbery charges was arrested Wednesday after he was caught on some recently installed traffic cameras.
A Clay County Sheriff's Office communications center supervisor noticed 37-year-old William Carlson's car on traffic monitors. The supervisor relayed location data to Clay county police officers, who intercepted the vehicle. A short chase ensued and ended with Carlson driving his car into a retention pond. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with minor injuries and then booked into the Clay county jail.
Carlson had held up a Dollar General store on Blanding Boulevard at knife point earlier Wednesday.
He will make his first court appearance on Thursday morning.
