Clay County District Schools holding traditional graduation ceremonies on July 17th

Graduating high school seniors in Clay County will get to take part in a traditional graduation ceremony this year despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Clay County District Schools announced Wednesday that it will host the ceremonies on July 17th at 8 PM. However, there will be a number of changes in place amid the pandemic.

Superintendent David Broskie says those measures include the following:

  • Only two tickets will be available per student
  • Seating areas will be designated and marked on bleachers for attending family members
  • Graduates will be placed 6-feet apart
  • Face coverings will be highly encouraged for all in attendance
  • Graduates will be provided a face covering
  • Commencement ceremonies will be live-streamed, allowing families that can’t attend to still take part

Broskie says graduating seniors should be receiving a survey soon from their school to verify attendance, along with further information on specific details for their school’s commencement plans.
