A serious crash on Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park, Monday afternoon, involved a Clay County motorcycle deputy.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirms one of their motorcycle deputies was heading to work a traffic crash when he was involved in a crash himself. The injuries to that deputy are considered serious, and CCSO is asking for the community’s prayers for the deputy and his family.

The Florida Highway Patrol, who is the agency leading the crash investigation, released a crash report Monday evening, revealing the details of what led up to the crash.

According to the crash report, the deputy was traveling in the inside lane of Kingsley Avenue, heading westbound, when the driver in the outside lane failed to properly change lanes to the left. FHP says the driver collided with the deputy’s motorcycle, causing him to fall to the left side and then sliding before coming to a final rest.

The report says charges are pending further investigation.
