CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Many Clay County locals have been asking for an update on curbside recycling.
The county halted the service last August.
A county spokesperson told Action News Jax the service will resume when Waste Management is fully staffed again.

The company currently needs 12 drivers, and Waste Management is actively recruiting them, offering a $5,000 signing bonus as an incentive.
In the meantime, there are 12 recycling drop-off sites for the public to use. You can find the locations and hours posted here.
Residents will get a $22.71 recycling credit per household to cover missed collections through September.

Clay County resident Susan Hampton said, “Certainly it would be easier if they came by, but I’m not finding this to be a problem too much.”
The county released the following statement about the benefits of the recycling drop-off program:
“While taking recyclables to the collection sites may be inconvenient, the positive impact on the environment is clear. When compared to curbside recycling, the drop-off recycling program is producing cleaner materials with noticeably less contamination from each of the 12 recycling sites. This high-quality product is much more valuable to manufacturers that use recycled materials, and greatly reduces the chance that the items end up in a landfill.”
