City of St. Augustine to celebrate Arbor Day

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The City of St. Augustine is hosting its 42nd Annual Arbor Day Ceremony on Jan 17.

It’s happening in the Plaza de la Constitución at 10 a.m.

According to a news release, the ceremony will include remarks by Mayor Nancy Sikes-Kline and Street Tree Advisory Committee (STAC) Chair, Fremont Latimer, the planting of one large Oak tree by city officials, a singing performance by Cathedral Parish School’s fifth-grade students, and the city’s then-newly selected Poet Laureate is expected to read a poem as their first official duty.

Parking will be free from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility.

Free tree saplings will be distributed while supplies last.
