The event, located at Landmark Middle School, honors Republic Day, the national holiday in India that commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950, which marked the country’s transition away from the British Raj. This event celebrates Jacksonville’s Indian American Community with cultural performances, traditional food, and reflections on the day’s significance.
Traditionally, the event’s Chief Guest is a government leader, and the 2025 event will follow suit by hosting Jacksonville City Council Member Rahman Johnson. Dr. Johnson will deliver a speech that “highlights the importance of cultural inclusivity and its role in strengthening Jacksonville’s unique community connections.”
“In celebrating India’s Republic Day, we honor the power of democracy, the resilience of a people united by shared values, and the beauty of a diverse cultural tapestry,” said Dr. Johnson. “This occasion is a profound reminder that inclusion is not just an ideal—it is the foundation of a truly vibrant Jacksonville. The Indian American community enriches our city in countless ways. I am honored to celebrate more than just a nation’s history but a bond that connects us all.”
The event is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
