Name: Henry Mooneyhan
Family: Married to my wife Kathy for 47 years, both born and raised in Jacksonville, 4 children and 5 grandchildren
Occupation: Transportation Industry Consultant
Political/Government experience: Served on TPO, past 2 term president Argyle Area Civic Council, ran for city council 2011
Years lived in Jacksonville: Life time
Campaign website: HenryMooneyhan.com
Why did you decide to run for office: Different issues and the way the current council conducts business.
What is the biggest problem facing Jacksonville as a city overall, and how specifically would seek to address that: From my survey of voters, Crime is the most concerning. JSO has performed well but I think we need more police officers on the street to bring the crime rates down. Crime is in check but we need more resources to reduce it. I would partner with Mayor's office to encourage increasing the budget for the JSO to hire the additional officers needed.
What makes your constituents unique, and how would that influence your time in office: My constituents are who I am running for. I am seeking their endorsement rather than the big money groups. Being on city council should be all about representing your constituents and not trying to govern them.
What would be your main budget priority for the upcoming fiscal year: Funding JSO properly
How do you define what you hope Jacksonville will be ten years from now: A prospering city. One where there is transparency in government, a good school system, good urban core due to the reduction in crime and attraction of new business development.
