JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JSO responded to a vehicle crash Thursday night on Atlantic Boulevard where one person has been confirmed deceased.
According to JSO, a man in his late 40s was walking southbound on Atlantic Boulevard when a black Hyundai struck him. The man flew into the eastbound lanes where he was run over by another car.
JFRD responded to the scene where they pronounced the man deceased.

The deceased appeared to have been drinking alcohol, however, this information will be confirmed after the toxicology report from the medical office.
This is the 150th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2024, as well as the third crash in less than 24 hours involving fatalities.
“It’s frustrating and sad and difficult. We just come out and investigate and try to do our best to make sense of it” says Sgt Hungerford of JSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
