Jacksonville FL — Time is running out to get your second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at either of the two satellite sites associated with the Gateway Mall. After 5 PM Tuesday the satellite sites at the Oceanway Community Center and Carver Recreation Center will close permanently. Kimber Kipp, a spokesperson for the federally-supported Gateway Mall vaccination site, says if you missed your opportunity to get a second dose at either site then you’ll have the chance to make it up at the Gateway Mall.
“No appointment necessary, they can come on in, walk-in, and just show their card”. Kipp says.
The sites will be open from 9 AM until 5 PM Tuesday. To help fill the void of the sites permanently closing, Kipp says the pop-up vaccination sites across Jacksonville will help to get vaccines to underserved communities.
If you are still looking to get a vaccine there are plenty of places where you can get one. In Jacksonville Tuesday, there will be a free Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccination event at the Lutheran Social Services campus at 4615 Philips Highway. The event will run from 9 AM until 7 PM. In Clay County, there are a few new vaccination events this week and next week. One event will be held April 15th at Shiloh Church at 939 Blanding Boulevard from 9 AM until 3 PM and the other will be held April 19th at the First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights at 55 East Walker Dr. from 9 AM until 3 PM. Both events will be offering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and you’ll need to pre-register by calling 877-252-9362.
St. Johns County will be offering several pop-up sites though out the county this week. Each of the sites will be open from 10 AM until 6 PM or until supplies run out. The sites will have 400 Johnson & Johnson doses and they will be administered on a first come first serve basis.
The events will be located at the following locations:
- April 15 – St. Augustine and St. Johns County Visitor Information Center, 10 S. Castillo Drive. (Visitor Information Center south side bus loop)
- April 16 – Hastings Branch Library, 6195 S. Main Street.
- April 18 – Mills Field, 1805 Racetrack Road.
In addition to these events, you can head to Regency Square Mall, Edward Waters College, Celebration Church or Legends Center in Jacksonville to get either a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and the Gateway Mall is also offering Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
