JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience opens on Friday, September 16, at Jacksonville’s Immersive Art Space, located at 712 N. Hogan St. The display can be viewed Wednesdays through Sundays until November, 6.
Using high resolution projection technology, the three dimensional exhibit spans 30,000 square feet of walls and floors and features 300 pieces of the artist’s works. Produced by Paquin Entertainment Group, the three-dimensional experience is being underscored as a sensory extravaganza.
Exhibit historian Fanny Curtat, described the iconic artist as a dark legend whose work remains timeless.
“For most people, the striking element of his life is of course the ear cutting incident,” she said. “But there’s something so much more about his him, about his work. He was so bright, so lucid, so self aware of what he was going through. He was fighting his own demons and that’s something that a lot of people can relate to.”
She also described the exhibit as animated joy.
“Vincent’s work is about life,’ she continued. “It’s about the healing qualities of of nature. It’s about really the strength of everything that’s beautiful in the world around us. And a technology like this literally helps us bring his work to life.”
Comprised of over 4 trillion content pixels, this high-resolution portrayal of Van Gogh’s work is said to give guests “the opportunity to become one with his paintings.”
“This project focuses on how Van Gogh transcended his world of darkness into works of light and beauty,” she concluded.
