Bank of America tower downtown for sale

Jacksonville’s tallest building is for sale.

The 42-story Bank of America tower at 50 N. Laura St. is on the market, with Jeff Morris and Jubeen Vaghefi of Jones Lang LaSalle representing Parmenter Realty Partners, the current owners.

Karen Mathis, the managing editor with the Financial News & Daily Record, says Parmenter bought the building back in July 1999 for $74.72 million.

“There is no asking price listed,” Mathis says.

Mathis says what the new owners do with it could have a significant effect on Jacksonville.

“They may be able to bring in some new tenants, and that always means new jobs,” she says.

Mathis says the fact that there are buyers who are interested in buying Jacksonville properties is a “good sign for the market.”

She says the EverBank Center downtown is named so because a lot of the jobs moved from the suburbs to that tower.

“Whenever there is a movement of any building downtown, it does signify that there are jobs there, and there may be more jobs there,” Mathis says.

The Aetna building on the Southbank recently sold for $55.5 million.  The EverBank Center and Wells Fargo Center are both currently for sale.
