Baker County Sheriff’s Office looking for 3 men who tried to steal from older couple in Sanderson

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 3 suspects who are possibly Hispanic that tried to steal from an older couple earlier this week. Deputies say Wednesday night the three suspects went to the couple’s home and said they were going to be clearing some timber around their property. The sheriff’s office says the husband walked outside with one of the suspects while the other two went inside to talk to his wife. One of the suspects was in the kitchen with her and that’s when deputies say the other suspect walked to the back of the home and was heard going through the couple’s things. The woman says she confronted both the men and told them she was going to call the sheriff’s office and that’s when they all left.

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office has a description of the suspects’ vehicle, they say it’s a newer silver Chevy Silverado with a silver topper over the bed.

Deputies say Columbia County has seen similar reports of this type of crime where several men try to distract homeowners while they steal their stuff.

Deputies say this hasn’t been the first time they’ve seen this type of crime reported in Baker County and they are looking to get ahead on any future complaints.
